Museum of Contemporary Art St. Louis Installation

MCASL (St. Louis)

20" x 26" | 3 color | March 2010

In conjunction with the two week long Machine Project residency/workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art St. Louis I designed and printed an installation for the walls of the residency/workshop room. Two different iterations of the printed pattern exist: full bleed paper tiles to cover the whole 720 square foot wall space (as seen below) and a traditional print (as seen above). In time documentation of the installation will be on this site.

Haiti Benefit Show

Elbo Room (San Franisco)

18" x 24" | 3 color | January 2010

Paul Costuros of Death Sentence: Panda fame put together two Haiti benefit shows. He asked me to work on the poster for the second one.

My long held desire of printing a poster which can work both horizontally AND vertically is now complete! It's true: turn your head sideways.

Go look at Jessalyn's work. It took some time to determine the best way to represent her work using my "style" (whatever that is). Key words: white space, mini-worlds, discrete pieces.

OMFG okay so David is in Extreme Animals along with Fortress of Amplitude, Powdered Wigs, Chariots of Fire, and DJ George Costanza. Bottom line: he's sort of a music genius. So of course I was a bazillion percent pumped to do this poster.

House of Nostromo (Oakland)

13" x 20" | 3 color | February 2009

client: Club Sandwich

The first 13" x 20" poster and I think this size is a keeper. It's like a stealth 18" x 24": employees won't be uber-bummed to try and find space in a store's window for it. But it's bigger than a 11" x 17" which means more pattern which everyone loves.

"MANIAC presents D.U.I. (Drawing Under the Influence), a mixed art experiment and exhibition of new work created by seven emerging artists working under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, failure, spirituality, media, and the act of appropriation. D.U.I. introduces...work created...on the topic of influence."

Each letter in the show title was given it's own poster. The posters were then individually posted throughout Oakland in the hope that over the course of a week people would find each letter and put together the name of the show (D.U.I). The design was an attempt to visually recreate this "search."

This show was the two year anniversary of Club Sandwich, a DIY all-ages booking collective operating in the Bay Area. Recognizing the dearth of all-ages venues in the area, members of Club Sandwich came together and pooled resources to provide local and touring "under-the-radar" musicians access to dwindling all-ages-show resources.

Two years later they hosted this event, drawing over 600 people and highlighting the continued need for all-ages spaces in the Bay Area.
