(as usual: a scan of a real print)

So Jessalyn is doing a week long residency at People’s Gallery with Jennifer Hennesy. They’ve turned the gallery into a studio and are working IRL. You can walk in and ask them questions about glue types! There’s even a closing show on August 13 from 7:00 to 10:00. With music! I will 1000% guarantee Barrington Levy will make an appearance in the playlist at least once. Probably more.

If you’re going to miss the fun, Jessalyn put up a few photos on her website.

Summer Jubilee polygraph project

I ran upstairs to get a camera. Upon returned to the kitchen I looked at the snail and thought, “Hrm. The snail didn’t move very far while I was gone. In fact, it’s moving REALLY slow.”

Snails seems to like kale. Here’s the old one! This table’s top developed a dip in the surface so it wasn’t really feasible to donate it to a deserving printer. If you’re near NEW YORK CITY on September 30 you can see her at the Firewheel Editions/Fractious Press reading.

For instance, take this Blue Point pressure washer

It’s an 18 amp device. How to tell? By the label stuck DIRECTLY ONTO THE PRESSURE WASHER

Seems pretty straightforward! Hey, let’s take a look at the plug that came on the end of the chord

GREAT! A 15 amp plug for a 18 amp device! Extra cool because this plug was obviously added as a repair when the original plug broke. So someone went, “oh, wait. The plug broke. Should I take the three seconds to think about what plug to get? NO!!!”

Hey, so let’s open up this 15 amp plug to see what’s going on inside! But first there’s another label on the pressure washer

Don’t remove or bypass the grounding prong? It kind of seems like one would have to go out of their way to do that. Back to the plug

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only did someone get a too-small-amperage plug but they also got a non-grounded plug so the green grounding wire is just flopping around when there’s a label on the pressure washer EXPLICITLY SAYING NOT TO DO THIS!!! YES!!!

I can only image people in the Blue Point factory (in ITALY) thinking, “wait, why are we putting on this warning sticker about the grounding plug? Don’t people know not to do that, especially since this is a pressure washer meaning lots of water will be flying around?” APPARENTLY NOT.

Seriously, this is so good. It’s not that someone snipped off a grounding prong, it’s that someone BOUGHT a replacement plug that DIDN’T have a grounding prong when it’s EXPLICITLY CLEAR a grounding prong is necessary.

Needless to say we fixed it

20 amp plug. Hey, did you know a 20 amp plug has a different prong configuration? I didn’t! Then we installed a GFCI 20 amp outlet due to the aforementioned flying water

Adventure over!

One-Arm Printing

So I DIY engineered a one-arm bandit/squeegee (as seen above). If you are REALLY interested in also building one a complete breakdown of the build can be found at this extra cool individual page. It’s kind of long.
